The electro-cells that Bady Minck has built
so far were places of free speech in the sense that the spectator could
receive and view news and political commentary inside the cell, that was
not available in the public media. For the Moscow Biennale, Bady wanted
to invert the idea of the electro-cell and built a cell that is a place
for free speech in a different sense:
The spectator should not be a passive consumer, but an active participant
of the installation. Instead of receiving information, she or he should
produce information her/himself and send out her/his news or comments
into the world. These news and comments will then be directed to multiplicators
who will spread them out further. The main idea is that the electro-cell
functions like an ear, that listens to the visitor, to then become a megaphone
or microphone that amplifies and distributes what the visitor has to say.
